Man In Court Accused Of Tricking Woman, 92, Into Paying £160 For Fake Covid Vaccine

A 33-year-old man has appeared in court accused of tricking a 92-year-old woman into paying him £160 to administer a fake coronavirus vaccine.

David Chambers is charged with two counts of fraud by false representation, common assault and two counts of breaking London tier 4 restrictions on travel over the incident in Surbiton, south-west London on December 30.

His alleged victim is said to have allowed him into her home after Chambers allegedly said he was there to administer the Covid-19 vaccine.

The City of London Police said it is not known what substance, if any, was administered, but the woman showed no ill effects after a check at her local hospital.

Chambers appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon where he indicated he would deny the charges. He was remanded in custody until his next hearing at Kingston Crown Court on February 12.
